Ultimate Blog Party

Ultimate Blog Party 2012

I saw this on a blog I was visiting and thought it might be fun to join in. I've joined in the "speciality blogs" section and am hoping (a) to find lots of blogs which I haven't yet discovered and (b) to get lots more people to come over here and find my bags useful - and learn more about Utange.

So who am I? Well, I'm Caroline, and I live in England - about 60 miles north of London. I am a teacher, married with two daughters. My husband works at a local university; my older daughter (20) is in her first year of studying to be a doctor and my younger daugher (16) is in her first year of A levels.

I've been sewing for as long as I can remember, but over the last three years my focus has been on recycling old jeans. I sell the bags, purses and other idems which I make to raise money for The Sure Foundation. This is a charity which was set up by a friend of mine from my church. Initially her plan was to build an orphanage for some of the destitute children she met while on holiday in Kenya. That orphanage, Casuarina House, is now open and houses 24 wonderful children aged between 5 and 14 years old. I know they are wonderful because I met them when I miraculously had the opportunity to go out to Kenya in January 2011.

Since then, Debbie has also set up a feeding programme, feeding some 500 children of those who were previously only eating every three or four days.

Please hop over to one of the sites about the charity to find out more. You can find them on my side bar.

On this blog you will find lots of pictures of bags I have made, along with tutorials for many of them.  You are free to use these tutorials however you please, but please do not publish them to your own sites or sell the patterns.  You may sell the bags. If you find them useful I would really appreciate it if you made a donation to The Sure Foundation via the PayPal link on my side bar.
